The combination of Art Clay (999) with Sterling silver (925) is often a good way to go but not always easy.
Again and again we learn that these two metals have individual requirements. Soldering the two together allows to elegantly overcome some of these difficulties.
In this class you learn the basics about the soldering of silver: Soldering wire or soldering paste? Which quality? Soft, medium or hard? Flame or soldering iron? What type of support and what accessories are necessary?
Students will work on two projects (ring and pendant) and practise some of the most typical soldering applications.
• Solder a ring from Sterling wire and solder décor made from Art Clay
• Pendant from Art Clay soldered with a tubular bezel made from Sterling silver
Good Art Clay skills are required.
