Anne Loup Burnand (CH)
The expression ‘filigree’ comes from latin Filum = wire and Granum = grain. The image associated with filigree is a most delicate pattern created from fine wire combined with small precious stones. Many different cultures have produced filigree type work with very different expressions.
Anne Burnand has developed a concept to combine filigree work with Art Clay and has also published an instructional book on the subject.
The students in this class will learn the whole process starting with the forming of the skeleton from sterling silver wire, the twisting of cords from fine silver wire to form the filigree pattern, the setting of tiny stones or silver grains all the way to the soldering of the components with the Art Clay matrix, the pickling process and the polishing.
